That's right...we're getting rid of the coordinate system! No longer will they show up in your game screen or your attack logs. You'll be on your own to determine where you are and where you want to go.

The map is now unrestricted and can exceed as far as our imaginations will take it. Also, instead of a randomly structured map with single-space islands, lagoons, towns, and reefs, this map will have small islands, large islands, continents, mountains, forests, towns, foothills, rivers, deserts, polar icecaps, and anything else we can dream up!

Instead of showing you only the space that you're on, Pirate The World 2: Lost at Sea has a fully visible map! We figure that if you are truly out at sea on a ship, you would definitely be able to see what's around you. This means that there's no more need for the mapping feature of the game, and there are new upgrades that will affect how far and what you can see. We've chosen a retro, classic 8-bit-game style for the map and in-game graphics. Take a look to the left.

Since the new game is going to be a totally new player experience, and since there are going to be a TON of new upgrades and ways to interact with other players, we have decided that in conjuction with the launch of PTW2, there will be a full stat reset. Therefore, June 30th will be the FINAL cashout of Pirate The World 1. After that date, all of our focus will be turned towards the new game. However, all treasure chest items are FULLY transferable to the new game, which leads us to our next point:

To give people a better understanding of the treasure chest and the doubloon system, all new users will receive 5 Silver Doubloons. Since we can't forget our weathered and sea-worn players, all accounts created in the new game will receive 5 SD as well.

Looking retrospectively, we can admit that the piracy system is flawed. It rewards the wrong kind of player, and really doesn't give an accurate ranking of a pirate. The monthly awards, too, were not something that a player could look forward to or be able to "compete" for. So, instead, we will be holding several monthly "competitions" where you will know what it is that you are competing for and will be able to see a leaderboard for each challenge!

Lots of people have discussed cashout in the forums. Some like it the way that it is, some hate it with a passion. Either way, it's run it's course and it's time for it to walk the plank. Starting with the July cashout, upgrades will be sliced for every 20 GOLD Doubloons that you cash out...cumulatively. This means that if you take 15 GD in your first month and 5 GD in your second month, you will be subject to cashout slicing in your second month.

Wait...did you say you could take out 5 GD?!? That's right! We're lowering the minimum cashout level to 5 doubloons, for both silver and gold cashout.

Pirate The World has been mostly rid of ads for some time, but now we will be going fully, officially AD-FREE. This means that the game interface has more room for the larger map window as well as integrating such things as your attack log and treasure chest actions!
